Missing Teen Found Safe

A teen who was reported missing by his family in Niles on Tuesday morning is safe and sound and back at home. The Berrien County Sheriff’s Department tells our newsroom it sent deputies out to the 1,700 block of Bond Street in Niles around 4:20 a.m. The teen’s mother told them the 16-year-old is mute and autistic. A search involving sheriff’s deputies and Niles police began, and they found the boy walking along US-12 near the US-31 bypass around 6:30 a.m. He was examined by EMTs and found to be unharmed. The teen is now back with family.
