Is a U.S. Senate run in the cards for Congressman Fred Upton? Michael Patrick Shiels put that question to the St. Joseph Republican this morning on “Michigan’s Big Show.”

“You know, we don’t have a timetable,” said Upton. “I’m flattered that people are talking about me, and a lot of people have encouraged me to run, frankly.” He adds he’s focused on the job he’s doing in the House, but adds “at some point we’ll have to make a decision, but we haven’t figured out what that path will be yet.”

Upton says he’s not worried about fundraising, saying he’s proven he can bring in the money needed to run such a campaign. Republicans are trying to find a candidate who can knock off incumbent Democrat Debbie Stabenow, who so far has held off all GOP challengers since moving from the U.S. House to the Senate in the 2000 election.
