Jordan scored 5,987 in his postseason career in 179 games from 1985-2003.  James played in his 212th career postseason game on Thursday night, when the Cavaliers beat the Celtics 135-102 in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals to advance to the NBA Finals.  The Cavaliers star came into the game needing 28 points for the record and hit a 3-pointer in the third quarter against the Celtics to break it.

Senators netminder Craig Anderson was terrific while stopping 39 shots.

NHL – Ott goes from player to coach, joining Blues as assistant
The St. Louis Blues have hired Steve Ott to be an assistant coach on Mike Yeo’s staff. General manager Doug Armstrong announced the move Thursday, a little over a month after Ott’s final game as a player with the Montreal Canadiens. NFL – Bears add salsa, sign WR Victor Cruz to 1-year contract
The Chicago Bears added some salsa, signing former New York Giants receiver Victor Cruz to a one-year contract Thursday. The Bears were looking for help after Alshon Jeffery signed with Philadelphia. A feared receiver with the Giants, he helped them win the Super Bowl before being slowed by injuries. He was released after seven seasons in February. Cruz has 303 catches for 4,549 yards and 25 touchdowns, many of which he celebrated with a salsa dance. A knee injury and a calf problem caused him to miss most of the 2014 season and all of 2015. Last year, he had 39 catches and one touchdown reception.

Golf – 2017 Senior PGA – Langer has 2-shot lead at Senior PGA on Trump course
Bernhard Langer will sleep on a two-shot lead as he aims for his record ninth senior major at the Senior PGA Championship. Langer shot a 7-under 65 on Thursday morning, and the lead held up as thunderstorms halted play in the afternoon with half the 156-man field still on the course. The 59-year-old German could break Jack Nicklaus’ record of eight senior majors with a win at Trump National. He tied Nicklaus last week with a five-shot victory at the Regions Tradition. He would also become the first player to win all five of the current senior majors. Langer finished off his round with a tap-in eagle at the par-5 18th. Tom Lehman, Lee Janzen, Scott McCarron and James Kingston shot 67, and Larry Mize also was 5 under with eight holes left.

Pence, a former Indiana governor, confirmed Thursday that he would be returning to his home state to watch the race, which is part of a family tradition.  Gate 2 will be closed to pedestrian traffic and all non-essential vehicles starting Friday. That gate will remain closed for Saturday’s concert and the Indianapolis 500. Speedway President Doug Boles says fans should enter through Gate 3. Vehicles with proper credentials can enter through other gates. No additional changes are expected.

The Wolverines jumped back on top 3-2 on a two-out single by Jake Bivens, but Indiana’s Matt Lloyd made it 3-3 on an RBI groundout. Logan Sowers followed with an RBI single, his first of the tournament after starting 0 for 7. But Drew Lugbauer’s two-out single in the bottom of the ninth pulled Michigan even at 4-all.
