MLB – Major League Baseball
Last Night
Detroit Tigers 6, Houston Astros 3
Arizona Diamondbacks 8, Chicago White Sox 6
Chicago Cubs 5, San Francisco Giants 4

Tigers 6, Astros 3 – Iglesias, Kinsler lead Tigers to 6-3 win over Astros
Jose Iglesias finished a triple shy of the cycle, Ian Kinsler had two hits and scored twice, and the Detroit Tigers beat the Houston Astros 6-3 Wednesday night to snap a three-game skid. Iglesias, who scored three runs, doubled to lead off the eighth. He moved to second on a single by Kinsler before scoring on Alex Avila’s RBI grounder off Chris Devenski (3-3) to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead. Following an intentional walk to Miguel Cabrera, Kinsler scored on Victor Martinez RBI grounder.     Iglesias then hit a two-run homer in the ninth. In the third, Iglesias scored on Charlie Morton’s wild pitch before Kinsler scored on Cabrera’s double-play grounder to give Detroit a 2-0 lead.    Shane Greene (1-0) retired all five batters he faced for the win.

Diamondbacks 8, White Sox 6 – Lamb homers, D-backs complete sweep of White Sox 8-6
Jake Lamb homered off a left-hander for only the second time this season, five Diamondbacks drove in at least one run and Arizona beat Chicago 8-6 on Wednesday to complete a three-game sweep of the White Sox.  The Diamondbacks, winners of eight of their last nine games, scored six runs in the fifth inning, chasing starter Jose Quintana and building a six-run lead, but they had to hold off a White Sox rally. Quintana (2-6), who retired the first 10 batters he faced, went just 4 1/3 innings, allowing eight runs and eight hits, both season highs. Jose Abreu and Leury Garcia homered for the White Sox, who were swept for the second time on a 3-7 road trip. Andrew Chafin (1-0) threw a scoreless fifth inning to get the victory in relief of Randall Delgado.

Cubs 5, Giants 4 – Rizzo homers twice as Cubs beat Giants 5-4
Anthony Rizzo hit two home runs, Kyle Hendricks tossed seven strong innings and the Chicago Cubs hung on to beat the San Francisco Giants 5-4 on Wednesday night.  Rizzo hit solo homers off Matt Moore (2-5) in the second and fourth innings for his 14th career multi-home run game. He has four homers over his last four games and 11 on the season.  Javier Baez made it 3-2 with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Miguel Montero doubled and scored in the seventh. Jason Heyward tripled and came around on Jon Jay’s sacrifice fly in the eighth after the Giants left the bases loaded. Wade Davis gave up a two-run homer to Mac Williamson with one out in the ninth to make it 5-4. He then walked Michael Morse before second baseman Baez raced back to catch Denard Span’s bloop and caught Joe Panik looking at a 3-2 pitch on the outside corner. That gave Davis 10 saves in as many chances, and the Cubs improved to 6-2 on their nine-game home stand.

NBA – NBA All-Star game coming to Charlotte in 2019
The NBA says its All-Star game will be held in Charlotte in 2019, two years after the North Carolina city was to host the event. The All-Star game had been set for Charlotte last February, but the NBA moved the game to New Orleans because of the state law restricting the rights of LGBT people. That law has since been modified.

WNBA – Women’s National Basketball Association
Last Night
Washington Mystics 82, Chicago Sky 67
Indiana Fever 93, Los Angeles Sparks 90

Mystics 82, Sky 67 – Mystics beat Sky 82-67 in Delle Donne’s return to Chicago
Elena Delle Donne scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds in her return to Chicago and the Washington Mystics beat the Sky 82-67 on Wednesday.  The 2015 MVP asked to be traded in the offseason after four seasons with the Sky. She opened the scoring with a turnaround jumper from the free-throw line and finished 7 of 15 from the floor. Washington broke it open early in the fourth quarter with a 14-6 spurt. Delle Donne had six points during the span, and Ivory Latta and Natasha Cloud each hit a 3-pointer. Tierra Ruffin-Pratt added 15 points and 10 rebounds for Washington (2-2), ranked sixth in the AP power poll. Reserve Tianna Hawkins scored 12 points and grabbed nine boards.  Cappie Pondexter led 10th-ranked Chicago (1-3) with 17 points and 10 assists. She also moved into seventh on the WNBA career assists list. Stefanie Dolson had 13 points and 11 rebounds against her former team.

Fever 93, Sparks 90 – Fever overcomes 14-point deficit to beat Sparks 93-90
Marissa Coleman hit five 3-pointers and scored 19 points, Candice Dupree added 18 points and the Indiana Fever overcame a 14-point halftime deficit to beat the Los Angeles Sparks 93-90 Wednesday night.  Coleman hit an open 3-pointer from the wing to extend Indiana’s lead to 89-85, but Candace Parker answered with a 3 at the other end. After consecutive empty possessions, Coleman sank another 3 and Parker made a quick layup to cut it to 92-90.  Erlana Larkins was fouled for Indiana and made 1 of 2 free throws and Los Angeles called a timeout with 5.4 seconds left. The Sparks passed it around the perimeter, and Parker’s 3-pointer was off the mark at the buzzer. Erica Wheeler added 14 points for Indiana (2-2), ranked ninth in the AP power poll.  Nneka Ogwumike scored 24 points for top-ranked Los Angeles (2-1), and Parker had 19.

NCAAMBB – Wagner returning to Michigan, Wilson staying in draft
Moe Wagner is coming back to Michigan, while D.J. Wilson is staying in the NBA draft. The Wolverines announced both decisions Wednesday. The two standouts said last month they were putting their names in the draft without hiring agents, but Wagner has now decided to withdraw and come back for his junior season. The 6-foot-11 Wagner averaged 12.1 points per game as a sophomore . The 6-foot-10 Wilson, who also had two years of college eligibility left, averaged 11 points in 2016-17. Wilson’s departure means Michigan loses three starters from the team that won the Big Ten Tournament and reached the Sweet 16 last season. Derrick Walton and Zak Irvin were seniors.

NFL – Lions coach hopes team can work out any issues with Johnson
Detroit Lions coach Jim Caldwell hopes the franchise’s relationship with Calvin Johnson will eventually improve. Johnson told the Detroit Free Press over the weekend that he felt he should have been treated better as he left the Lions. The star receiver retired following the 2015 season.  Caldwell spoke to reporters Wednesday at an organized team activity, and he said the organization is concerned anytime it finds out one of its alumni isn’t happy. Johnson didn’t go into specifics with the Free Press about what treatment by the team left him unsatisfied. Caldwell said he still texts Johnson often and stays in touch, and the coach says he’s hopeful the Lions and Johnson can work out whatever their differences may be.

NCAA Baseball – Northwestern rallies to upset Michigan 6-4
Northwestern rallied with three runs in the ninth inning to upset second-seeded Michigan 6-4 in the Big Ten tournament Wednesday. The seventh-seeded Wildcats were 0-23 when trailing after eight innings. But they loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the ninth, and Ben Dickey’s RBI single tied it at 4. Grant Peikert gave Northwestern the lead on a fielder’s choice and Alex Erro’s single made it 6-4. Pete Hoffman closed it out with his fourth save, giving Northwestern its sixth straight win. Erro had three RBIs for the Wildcats. Ako Thomas and Michael Brdar each had two hits from Michigan. Northwestern will face Minnesota on Thursday. The Wolverines will play Indiana, the host school, in an elimination game.
