South Haven Area Emergency Services has honored some of its firefighters with awards for the year. The agency held its annual awards dinner on May 6, giving the honor of Firefighter of the Year to David Griessel. He’s been member of the department since 2011, first as a paid-on-call firefighter and since 2015 as a full time firefighter-paramedic. Receiving the Life Savings Awards were James Lindemulder, Owen Ridley and Johanna Quinn for their successful actions in resuscitating a dog overcome by smoke in a Casco Township house fire. South Haven Area Emergency Services also handed out awards for CPR and years of service. Additionally, the department highlighted its acquisition this year of self-contained breathing apparatus.
