The partnership agreement between Benton Harbor Area Schools and the state is coming together and could be approved next week. District trustees met with state officials Thursday to hear more about how the department of education will oversee progress on turning around three struggling buildings that had been facing closure. School Board President Joseph Taylor says he liked what he heard.

“I think it was awesome,” Taylor said. “I think they players in the room were ready, willing, and able, and I think that with our second meeting coming up, we can define all of our resources, what will be and what is.”

Taylor said the partnership agreement will not just be more state control, but instead, extra help. The board will meet again next Wednesday with state officials on the arrangement. The goal is to have it approved by the start of April.
