1,100 layoffs are coming to the General Motors plant near Lansing. Both seniority and temporary employees at the Delta Township Assembly Plant will be laid off as GM suspends its third shift on May 12th and moves to a two-shift operation. Tom Wickham is a spokesman who told Michigan News Network the company is shifting production of some models elsewhere.

“The plant is currently winding down production of the GMC Acadia, which is based on the same platform as the Enclave and Traverse,” Wickham said.

Wickham says GM will be focusing on the brand new Chevy Traverse and Buick Enclave. They come out later this year.
