#10 FSU 83, #15 ND 80 – Isaac leads No. 10 Florida State past No. 15 Notre Dame
Jonathan Isaac scored 23 points, including 17 in the second half, as 10th-ranked Florida State beat No. 15 Notre Dame 83-80 on Wednesday night to move into a three-way tie atop the Atlantic Coast Conference at the one-third mark in conference play. Isaac, who had 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double, scored nine of his points during an 11-1 run that helped the Seminoles take control. FSU trailed 64-62 with 5:40 remaining before Isaac buried a 3-pointer to start the run.  Dwayne Bacon added 11 points for Florida State (17-2, 5-1), which has won 16 straight at home and is tied with Notre Dame and North Carolina for the conference lead. Steve Vasturia scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, for the Fighting Irish (16-3, 5-1), who were 15 of 21 from long distance. Matt Farrell added 17 points and V.J. Beachem 14, including four 3-pointers, as Notre Dame had its seven-game winning streak snapped.

Red Wings 6, Bruins 5 (SO) – Red Wings’ Vanek, Nielsen score in 6-5 SO win over Bruins
Thomas Vanek and Frans Nielsen scored in a shootout, lifting the Detroit Red Wings to a comeback 6-5 win over the Boston Bruins on Wednesday night. The Red Wings rallied from 3-0 and 4-1 deficits in the first period, and with 3:04 remaining in regulation, Gustav Nyquist scored to pull them into a tie. In the shootout, Tuukka Rask and Petr Mrazek stopped the first shots they faced before Vanek scored for the Red Wings and Brad Marchand countered with a goal for the Bruins. Nielsen, who like Vanek joined the team last summer as a free agent, scored on the team’s third attempt and Vatrano missed the net with a chance to extend the 1-on-1 duels. The Bruins were dominant early before blowing a chance to keep Detroit at a distance in the Atlantic Division standings.

Pistons 118, Hawks 95 – Pistons cruise past Hawks 118-95
Reggie Jackson scored 26 points to lead the balanced Detroit Pistons to a 118-95 victory over the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday. Each of Detroit’s starters scored in double figures, and the Pistons shot 49.5 percent from the field. Tobias Harris had 19 points, Reggie Bullock finished with 15 and Andre Drummond added 13 points and 17 rebounds. Detroit raced out to a 42-18 first-quarter lead and never trailed. Paul Millsap had 21 points and eight rebounds for the Hawks.

Pacers 106, Kings 100 – George helps Pacers rally past Kings 106-100 win
Indiana trailed by 22 in the first half before storming back to beat Sacramento, 106-100. Paul George topped the Pacers with 24 points, while Jeff Teague (teeg) added 22, 11 assists and seven boards to the win.

NFL – Falcons’ Jones, Packers’ Nelson still recovering
Atlanta Falcons All-Pro wide receiver Julio Jones was held out of Wednesday’s practice after aggravating his sprained toe in Saturday’s playoff win over Seattle. Jones is expected to play in Sunday’s NFC championship game against Green Bay. He missed two games with the toe injury late in the regular season. Meanwhile, Packers wide receiver Jordy Nelson sat out another practice as he tries to recover from broken ribs. Nelson had to miss last Sunday’s 34-31 win over the Cowboys after getting injured in Green Bay’s 38-13 rout of the Giants.

MLB – Bagwell, Raines, Rodriguez voted in Hall of Fame
First baseman Jeff Bagwell, outfielder Tim Raines and catcher Ivan Rodriguez will be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown this summer after being named on more than 75 percent of the ballots. Bagwell and Raines were each selected on 86 percent of the ballots, while Rodriguez was named on 76 percent to join Johnny Bench as the only catchers elected on the first ballot. Closer Trevor Hoffman fell five votes shy of election, while outfielder Vladimir Guerrero came up 15 votes short.

MLB – Tigers acquire OF Mikie Mahtook from Tampa Bay
The Detroit Tigers have acquired outfielder Mikie Mahtook from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named or cash. Detroit announced the trade yesterday and designated outfielder Anthony Gose for assignment. Mahtook, a first-round draft pick in 2011, hit .195 with three home runs and 11 RBIs in 65 games for the Rays last season.

Tennis – Djokovic is out of the Australian Open
Defending champion Novak Djokovic is out of the Australian Open, beaten 7-6 (8), 5-7, 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4 by wild-card entry Denis Istomin in a second-round match today. Istomin made the vital break in the fifth game of the deciding set, then held service the rest of the way in the marathon 4 hour, 48-minute match on Rod Laver Arena.

Lansing Community College 98, Lake Michigan College 92
Lake Michigan College got a game high 26 points from Cortez Moore, but it wasn’t quite enough as the Red Hawks fell to Lansing 98-92.  Moore scored 17 of the 26 points in the 2nd half.  LMC rallied from 15 points down late to pull to within two in the closing :30, but fell just short of the upset win.

Lake Michigan College 72, Lansing Community College 67
Lake Michigan College rallied for a 72-67 win over Lansing Community College.  The Lady Red Hawks trailed by as many as six in the 2nd half, but Hailey Maas scored 16 of her game high 34 points in the 4th quarter to lead the comeback.  LMC improves to 12-4 on the season and 4-1 in the MCCAA West.
