Bucks 108, Bears 97 – Antetokounmpo, Parker lead Bucks to 108-97 win over Bulls
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 30 points and Jabari Parker added 28 to lead the Milwaukee Bucks to a 108-97 victory over the Chicago Bulls on Thursday night. Milwaukee led the entire game and held a 24-point advantage early in the fourth quarter but had to hold on to snap a three-game losing streak, its longest of the season. Antetokounmpo has totaled 88 points and 35 rebounds in his last three games, and Parker has reached at least 27 points in four of his last five. Chicago lost for the fifth time in seven games and dropped its third straight on the road despite 21 points from Jimmy Butler and 20 from Dwyane Wade. The Bulls also got 19 points from Taj Gibson.

Pelicans 102, Pacers 95 – Davis, Hield lift Pelicans past Pacers, 102-95
Rookie Buddy Hield scored 14 of his season-high 21 points in the third quarter and Anthony Davis contributed 10 points during a 15-0 run inside the last five minutes of the Pelicans’ 102-95 win over Indiana. Davis finished with 35 points, 16 rebounds and five blocks, including two rejections when New Orleans was turning a 90-85 deficit into a 10-point lead.

NBA – Turner: Colorful NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager, 65, dies
Longtime NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager has died at the age of 65 after a battle with cancer.  Turner President David Levy says in a statement Thursday that Sager had died, without saying when or where.  Famous for his flashy suits and probing questions, Sager worked basketball games for TNT for nearly a quarter-century. Sager first announced in April 2014 that he had been diagnosed with leukemia, and he missed the playoffs and much of the following season as he underwent two bone marrow transplants.  Sager revealed in March that his leukemia was no longer in remission. He said doctors told him the typical prognosis was three to six months to live, but “I am receiving the best treatment in the world and I remain fully confident I will win this battle.”

NHL – National Hockey League
Last Night
Chicago Blackhawks 5, New York Islanders 4
Los Angeles Kings 4, Detroit Red Wings 1

Blackhawks 5, Islanders 4 – Panik scores winner in 3rd, Blackhawks rally past Isles 5-4
Richard Panik scored the tiebreaking goal with 6:13 left in the third period to lift the Chicago Blackhawks over the New York Islanders 5-4 on Thursday night. Panik’s eighth of the season gave Chicago its fourth victory in five games and eighth in the last 10 meetings with the Islanders.  Scott Darling made 28 saves as the Blackhawks (20-8-4) rallied from an early 2-0 deficit.  The teams entered the third period tied at 4.  Anders Lee scored his ninth goal of the season for New York, and eighth in the last 11 games, to break a 3-all tie 22 seconds into the second.

Kings 4, Red Wings 1 – Tyler Toffoli scores 2 to help Kings beat Red Wings 4-1
Nic Dowd had a tie-breaking goal late in the second period and Tyler Toffoli scored twice in the third, lifting the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-1 victory over Detroit Red Wings Thursday night.  Derek Forbort scored 21 seconds into the game on the Kings’ first shot and Dowd scored off his own rebound with 17 seconds left in the second period. Toffoli scored with 6:10 left in the game, giving Los Angeles a two-goal cushion that was safe against a team that is struggling to score and he added an empty-net goal with 3:34 to go. The offensively challenged Red Wings had two shots in the first, their lowest total for any period this season and added just six more in the second.  Jeff Zatkoff made 17 saves for the Kings. Detroit’s Jimmy Howard stopped 27 shots.

NCAAFB – Dantonio says Lewerke is `the guy to beat out’ at QB in 2017
Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio says Brian Lewerke is “the guy to beat out” at quarterback as the Spartans look ahead to 2017. Lewerke missed all of November with a broken leg after showing promise in limited duty as a redshirt freshman. Michigan State loses senior Tyler O’Connor, who made most of the starts at quarterback this season. Lewerke started twice and Damion Terry started once. Michigan State won the Big Ten in 2015 behind quarterback Connor Cook, but with Cook now in the NFL, the Spartans fell to 3-9 this season. Lewerke completed 31 of 57 passes for 381 yards. He threw for two touchdowns and an interception. Dantonio said Lewerke probably would have been Michigan State’s top choice at quarterback down the stretch had he not been hurt.

NCAAFB – Gophers players to boycott all football activity
University of Minnesota football players are staging their own work stoppage.  The Golden Gophers say they are boycotting all football activities leading up to the Holiday Bowl until they get satisfactory answers from the school about the suspensions of 10 teammates. The 10 players were punished following an internal investigation into a sexual assault case. Although police declined to charge any of the players, the school suspended them based on internal regulations involving the allegations. The university announced the suspensions Tuesday night without disclosing the reason for such discipline. The incident at an off-campus apartment in September led to three-game suspensions of four of the players earlier this season. Those four players are benched again along with six of their teammates. The players said Wednesday that they haven’t ruled out skipping the Dec. 27 bowl game against Washington State in San Diego.
