The Southwestern Medical Clinic Foundation is trying to raise just under $22,000 to help launch a mobile medical unit in Zambia. Foundation President Chris Harvey tells WSJM News they’ve already got a doctor there. Now, they want equipment to better screen women for cervical cancer and provide treatment.

“Part of that treatment is being able to have tele-medicine, live visualization by physicians in Zambia who are actually not at the location where the screening is occurring,” Harvey said. “So, it really allows them to have access to care that’s much beyond what they have currently.”

The Southwestern Medical Clinic Foundation will match all donations made to the fundraising effort. If you want to contribute, you can drop off a check at the foundation’s office, mail them one, or check out their website at SWMCF.org. The address for the office is 2550 Meadowbrook Road, Benton Harbor, MI 49022.
