Pscholka Expects A Busy Fall In Lansing

The Michigan legislature is back at work after having taken the summer off, and there’s plenty on the legislative agenda. State Representative Al Pscholka tells WSJM News the biggest thing will be an energy policy reform package.

“We don’t want Washington, D.C. to decide energy policy in Michigan, so there will be a large package on energy,” Pscholka said. “I think that’s going to be pretty important. There’s going to be some tax votes, possibly on how we fund our Medicaid program. That might be changing.

Pscholka also expects a bit of a fight between legislative leaders and the governor on a timetable for closing failing schools in Detroit. He adds he’s planning to push legislation that would require 25% of money that lapses at the end of the year be put into the state’s rainy day fund.
