The 2016 Senior PGA Championship Volunteers of the Year have been announced. Taking the Dr. John M. Proos III Volunteer of the Year Award are David Hertog and Gloria Ender. The championship’s Ryan Ogle says they exemplify good service, working hard to make sure this year’s tournament at Harbor Shores went off without a hitch.

“I think both of them really displayed what a true volunteer is, especially a volunteer in southwest Michigan, a community that has embraced our championship,” Ogle told WSJM News.

Hertog got the award for going above and beyond for 10 shifts, totaling nearly 40 hours, displaying a team-first attitude. Ender, a Hole 18 Captain, was awarded for working sun up to sun down during the event, and taking on extra shifts. The PGA says the volunteer award is named after Dr. John Proos, whose “giving nature and willingness to help others exemplified the ideal volunteer spirit.” Usually, they only give it to one person, but Ogle says, this year, they just had to give it to two.
