It’s almost time once again for the annual Chalk the Block event in downtown St. Joseph. The 20th Chalk the Block kicks off this Friday when more than 30 artists from around the country will be welcomed to town, preparing to cover the sidewalks with chalk art. St. Joe Today’s Whitney Behnke says thousands come down to check out their work.
“It’s definitely a very family-friendly event, just to come down and be so close and interacting with the artists,” Behnke told WSJM. “You’re not gated off from the artists. You have complete access, you can ask them for pictures and interact with them.”
Behnke says the artists can do some impressive things with their chalk, like making 3D art that leaps off the pavement. They’ll be working this coming Saturday and Sunday, with the winners to be announced Sunday. New this year will be live music downtown Saturday. You can find out more at StJoeToday.com .
