There will be lane closures on I-94 in Chikaming Township for the next couple of weeks while the Michigan Department of Transportation does maintenance work on a bridge. Spokesperson Nick Schirripa says they’re painting the bridge over Harbert Road.
“Bridge painting is a pretty standard maintenance operation,” Schirripa told WSJM. “It helps seal the steel and seal the concrete which prevents or slows corrosion and the deterioration of the surface.”
While the project is underway, Schirripa says there will be single lane closures during the day, and double lane closures at night. That could mean delays. The work started Tuesday, and is scheduled to wrap up Friday, August 5.
