Indians 12, Tigers 1 – Indians continue dominance of Tigers with 12-1 victory
Lonnie Chisenhall was 4 for 5 with three RBIs, Carlos Santana and Tyler Naquin homered, and the Cleveland Indians remained perfect in 11 games against the Detroit Tigers this season with a 12-1 victory Tuesday night. The Indians have outscored the Tigers 77-24 in the season series. Cleveland leads Detroit by 7 ½ games in the AL Central. Carlos Carrasco (5-2) allowed one run in six innings for Cleveland, which has won 13 straight at home. Anibal Sanchez (5-9), who replaced the injured Jordan Zimmermann, allowed seven runs in 4 1/3 innings. Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera was ejected in the sixth after grounding out. Cabrera, thinking the ball hit off his leg, never left the batter’s box and was called out at first. He was ejected when the umpires didn’t reverse the call.

Yankees 9, White Sox 0 – Yankees get season-high 20 hits in 9-0 win against White Sox
Carlos Beltran celebrated his ninth All-Star selection with three of New York’s season-high 20 hits, and the Yankees cooled off the Chicago White Sox with a 9-0 win on Tuesday night. Chase Headley hit a two-run homer for the second straight day for New York, which improved to 2-3 on a 10-game trip that takes the club to the All-Star break. Austin Romine also connected, and Masahiro Tanaka (6-2) pitched into the eighth inning while improving to 4-1 with a 1.14 ERA in eight road starts. Beltran and relievers Andrew Miller and Dellin Betances were picked for the AL roster before the win, and White Sox ace Chris Sale joined the trio. Chicago (43-41) had won three in a row and six of eight, but it never recovered after Carlos Rodon (2-7) labored through five innings.

Reds 9, Cubs 6 – Lackey’s winless streak at 5, Maddon tossed, Reds top Cubs
John Lackey’s winless streak stretched to five games, Chicago manager Joe Maddon was ejected and the Cincinnati Reds beat the struggling Cubs 9-5 Tuesday behind Zack Cozart’s 13th home run. Lackey (7-5) allowed six runs, five earned, six hits and five walks in six innings, dropping to 0-3 in his past five starts. The Cubs have lost five of their last six games and 10 of 15. Maddon got ejected for the second time this season. David Ross was batting in the second, took a 3-0 pitch and started heading to first, only for plate umpire Jerry Meals to call a strike. Maddon got tossed by Meals as he protested from the dugout,

MLB – 5 Cubs elected to start in All-Star Game
The Chicago Cubs became the first team since the 1976 Cincinnati Reds’ Big Red Machine to have five players voted as All-Star Game starters when their entire infield earned the honor Tuesday along with centerfielder Dexter Fowler. First baseman Anthony Rizzo, second baseman Ben Zobrist, shortstop Addison Russell and third baseman Kris Bryant also were elected. The only other team to start four infielders was the 1963 St. Louis Cardinals. The July 12 game at San Diego’s Petco Park will feature 11 first-time starters, the most since 2005. In a sign of the sport’s generational change, 12 of the 17 elected starters are 26 or younger. Miguel Cabrera is the only Detroit Tigers player on the roster. Boston has three-first time starters and four overall. Designated hitter David Ortiz, who is retiring at the end of the season, became a 10-time All-Star and is joined by shortstop Xander Bogaerts and outfielders Jackie Bradley Jr. and Mookie Betts.

NFL – Lions release linebacker Stephen Tulloch
The Detroit Lions have released Stephen Tulloch. Lions coach Jim Caldwell says in a statement that the veteran linebacker has been “a consummate professional on and off the field.” Tulloch started all 16 games for the Lions last season, his fifth with Detroit. He’s played 10 seasons in the NFL. Tulloch joined the Lions in 2011 as a free agent. In 2014, Tulloch missed most of the season after injuring his knee, but he was able to come back last season.

Moore hit a 3 just before the shot-clock buzzer with 55.7 seconds left to give Minnesota an 85-80 lead. Chicago had the ball, down three, with 19.7 seconds left but Rebekkah Brunson jumped a pass attempt and went coast-to-coast for a layup to seal the win for Minnesota (15-3), which is ranked No. 2 in the AP power poll. Delle Donne scored 25 of her season-high 38 points in the first half for sixth-ranked Chicago (7-10). She made 10 straight shots, including an open 3-pointer with 7:33 left in the third for a 58-52 lead. Chicago was up 10 midway through the third quarter before Minnesota rallied. Sylvia Fowles’ putback with 7:20 remaining capped a 10-2 run to open the fourth for a 71-70 lead, the Lynx’s first since the opening minute of the third. Her replacement, Jamierra Faulkner, finished with 18 points and seven assists.
