Golf – US Open – Rose breaks 43-year England drought, wins US Open
Justin Rose is the first Englishman to win the U.S. Open in 43 years. Rose shot a closing 70 Sunday at Merion Golf Club for a 1-over 281 total and his first major championship. He finished two shots ahead of Phil Mickelson and Jason Day. The 32-year-old Rose overcame his share of misadventures on a challenging course. He took the solo lead for good when Mickelson and Mahan both dropped shots at No. 15. He finished with a tap-in for par at the 18th, a hole that didn't yield a birdie over the final two rounds.  It's been a long wait for England since Tony Jacklin won the trophy in 1970. Rose has been in contention before. He tied for fifth in 2003 and tied for 10th in 2007.  Tiger Woods completed a forgettable US Open with a 4-over 74 to finish 13-over par.

NASCAR – Michigan – Biffle wins
Greg Biffle captures the Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway for his second straight victory at the two-mile oval. He finished nearly three seconds in front of Kevin Harvick, with Martin Truex, Jr., Kyle Busch and Tony Stewart rounding out the top five. Points-leader Jimmie Johnson was only about a second back of Biffle with three laps to go when a tire went flat. He finished 28th.

Fister allowed two runs and two hits _ both to Dozier _ in 7 2-3 innings. He struck out seven, walked two and won for the first time in his last six starts. Joaquin Benoit pitched the final 1 1-3 innings, earning his fourth save.  Hunter and Austin Jackson both hit two-run homers for Detroit. P.J. Alejandro De Aza tripled and scored in the sixth and Dayan Viciedo tripled and scored in the seventh to cut the lead to 3-2. Tony Parker had 26 points for San Antonio. LeBron James scored 25 points on 8-for-22 shooting for the Heat and Dwyane Wade had 25 points and 10 assists. Tonight
Chicago Blackhawks at Boston Bruins, 8:00 p.m.                         (Series tied 1-1)

NHL – After 10 periods, time for Stanley Cup Game 3
Is it really only Game 3?  After 10 periods in the first two games of the Stanley Cup finals, the Bruins and Blackhawks are in Boston on Sunday to prepare for Game 3. The best-of-seven series is tied at a game apiece. The Bruins evened it up Saturday night on Daniel Paille's goal at 13:48 of the first overtime. That's after the teams played 52:08 over three OTs on Wednesday in the series opener. Both teams are hoping to rest before getting back on the ice Monday night. Bruins coach Claude Julien says the hometown fans will help, but the team still has to play the game.

NHL – Blackhawks try to regain momentum in Boston
The Chicago Blackhawks are in Boston hoping to find the momentum they lost in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup finals. They outshot the Bruins 19-4 and outscored them 1-0 in the first period in Chicago on Saturday night. But Boston won 2-1 in overtime to even the best-of-seven series at one game apiece. The next two games are in Boston on Monday and Wednesday nights before the series returns to Chicago for Game 5 next Saturday. The team that scored first also lost the opener. Boston led 2-0 and 3-1 then allowed two goals in the last 12 minutes of regulation. Chicago went on to win 4-3 in three overtimes. Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville says that might be unusual, but there's nothing wrong with scoring first.
