North Carolina 75, Kentucky 73
North Carolina was facing overtime until Luke Maye drained a jumper with 0.3 seconds left to give the top-seeded Tar Heels a 75-73 win over Kentucky in the South Regional final. Maye’s game-winning bucket came after Kentucky freshman Malik Monk hit a 3-pointer to tie the game with 7.2 seconds remaining.  De’Aaron Fox also hit a trey after North Carolina went on a 12-0 to take a six-point lead late in the game. Maye finished with 17 points off the bench for North Carolina. Justin Jackson scored 19 points, and Joel Berry II added 11.

South Carolina 77, Florida 70
Sindarius Thornwell scored 26 points and hit the go-ahead free throws that put South Carolina ahead to stay in a 77-70 triumph over the fourth-seeded Florida Gators. There were 14 lead changes and 10 ties until Thornwell drained two free throws to put the Gamecocks ahead 65-63 with 2:24 remaining. The East Regional MVP followed the foul shots with a nice assist to Maik Kotsar and a steal with 40 seconds left to help South Carolina go ahead 73-68. PJ Dozier added 17 points for the Gamecocks, who trailed 40-33 at halftime.

Stanford 76, Notre Dame 75
Alanna Smith’s layup with 23 seconds left capped Stanford’s rally from a 16-point deficit in the second half, Erica McCall blocked a last-second shot and the Cardinal edged top-seeded Notre Dame 76-75 Sunday to reach its first Final Four since 2014. Brittany McPhee scored 27 as the second-seeded Cardinal (32-5) won its eighth in a row overall. This was the third straight year Stanford and Notre Dame have met in the NCAA Tournament, with the Cardinal winning twice. Down 47-31 in the third quarter, Stanford surged to end Notre Dame’s 17-game winning streak. The Irish (33-4) had a final shot, but McCall blocked Arike Ogunbowale’s drive near the basket. The win in the Lexington Regional gives Stanford a chance to pursue its third national championship under coach Tara VanDerveer.

Mississippi State 94, Baylor 85
Morgan William poured in a career-high 41 points as the second-seeded Bulldogs outscored No. 1 Baylor, 94-85 in overtime. William’s provided a layup with 22 seconds left to force overtime.    Victoria Vivians had 24 points for Mississippi State, which won a game that featured 24 lead changes.

Bulls 109, Bucks 94 – Butler did it: Bulls pulls away for 109-94 win over Bucks
Nikola Mirotic tied a season high with 28 points, Jimmy Butler had 20 points and a career-high 14 assists, and the Chicago Bulls pulled away in the second half for a 109-94 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday.  Butler broke his previous career best for assists (12) by the end of a pivotal third quarter, when Chicago stretched a one-point lead at the half to 91-79 going into the fourth.  Butler punctuated the second-half run with a backcourt steal off a telegraphed pass by Greg Monroe before strolling the other way for an easy dunk and 17-point lead with 8:55 left.  Mirotic hit three 3-pointers in the third quarter, while Rajon Rondo scored 14 of his 18 points in that period. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 22 points and eight rebounds for the Bucks.

Pacers 107, Sixers 94 – Turner leads Pacers to 107-94 victory over 76ers
Myles Turner had 17 points and 16 rebounds, Paul George scored 21 points, and the Indiana Pacers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 107-94 on Sunday night. Jeff Teague added 16 points for the Pacers, who used a 30-point third quarter to turn a six-point halftime lead into a 12-point advantage and snapped a two-game skid. Al Jefferson finished with 14 points before leaving in the fourth quarter with a sprained ankle. Monta Ellis, Aaron Brooks and CJ Miles all had 10 for Indiana. Sergio Rodriguez scored 16 for the Sixers, while Richaun Holmes finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds. Philadelphia’s Jahlil Okafor was held out with soreness in his right knee and Jerryd Bayless did not play due to a left wrist injury.

Red Wings 3, Wild 2 – OT – Red Wings beat reeling Wild 3-2 in OT
Andreas Athanasiou scored 1:52 into overtime and lifted the Detroit Red Wings to a 3-2 win Sunday over the reeling Minnesota Wild. Jimmy Howard made the game-winning goal possible by making one of his 24 saves.  Red Wings forward Gustav Nyquist got the rebound and made a long pass to set up Athanasiou, who faked out Devan Dubnyk with a move before flipping the puck in the net. The Wild have lost eight of nine and are 3-10-1 in March. They still clinched a playoff spot late Saturday night when the Los Angeles Kings lost to the New York Rangers. The Wild extended their postseason streak to five under first-year coach Bruce Boudreau.  Mike Green and Tomas Tatar also scored for Detroit. Dubnyk finished with 16 saves and Eric Staal and Nate Prosser scored for Minnesota.

NFL – Bears’ Hall, Packers’ Dorleant arrested in Iowa
Authorities in central Iowa say Chicago Bears cornerback Deiondre Hall and Green Bay Packers cornerback Makinton Dorleant were arrested outside a bar in Cedar Falls. Hall was cited for disorderly conduct, public intoxication and interference with official acts. Dorleant was cited for interference. Police say officers responded to a report of a fight outside the bar Sharkey’s Funhouse on Saturday night. According to a police affidavit, Hall did not respond to police instructions and spit in the officers’ faces. Police say an officer used a Taser on Hall’s legs in order to get him into the squad car. Dorleant was detained after authorities say he approached officers “in a threatening manner” following Hall’s arrest. A Packers spokesman says the team is aware of the situation and “gathering more information.” The Bears have not responded to an email looking for comment. Both men played college football in Cedar Falls at Northern Iowa.

MLB – Tigers release Lowe, send Jimenez to minor league camp
The Detroit Tigers have released right-handed reliever Mark Lowe, one of several cuts before Sunday’s spring training game against Toronto. Detroit also optioned catcher John Hicks to Triple-A Toledo, and the Tigers reassigned right-handers Joe Jimenez, Ruben Alaniz, Logan Kensing, Arcenio Leon and Edward Mujica, infielder Dominic Ficociello and outfielders Anthony Gose and Juan Perez to minor league camp. The Tigers signed Lowe to an $11 million, two-year contract before last season, but he was ineffective in 2016, going 1-3 with a 7.11 ERA in 54 appearances. He had a 5.19 ERA in nine appearances this spring. In 2015, Lowe went 1-3 with a 1.96 ERA in 57 games with Seattle and Toronto.

NASCAR – Larson follows string of seconds with a first
Kyle Larson has ended the frustration of three straight runner-up finishes by earning the second Cup victory of his career. Larson endured four straight restarts to win at Fontana and add to his Monster Energy points lead. He also won the Xfinity Series race on Saturday, giving him a clean sweep of the weekend racing. After surging up from fourth to first with four new tires before the final caution, Larson made one last outstanding restart and cruised through two overtime laps to win. Brad Keselowski was second, and Clint Bowyer came in third, his best finish since June 2015.
